We have reached our goal and the hotel has been paid. Thank you so much for the support. We’re excited to start on Year 5!
As you are all aware, just weeks before HavenCon 4, Austin went through a very difficult and scary series of events. And while the events have ended, they had lasting effects on our community, none more so than the victims themselves.
As these events occurred relatively close to HavenCon, both in time and location, the fear that caused for those traveling into Austin for the show was palpable. We were faced with lower attendance and a significant number of cancelled hotel rooms that left us with a shortfall where it looked like we’d be coming out ahead.
We 100% understand and respect these cancellations, but contractual obligations require us to make up the difference by the end of April.
The DoubleTree Hotel has been very kind in working with us in every way they can, but we are still $3000 short of meeting these contract requirements.
Because HavenCon 4 just finished, planning for next year’s logistics is not yet underway, which unfortunately means we aren’t yet in a position to reach out to potential sponsors or apply for grants.
And so, we are turning to you, our beloved community. We know that you care about this event, and that you all want the event to grow and prosper—and we’re so close! To make that happen for HavenCon 5, however, we must recover quickly to ensure a positive reputation with our current host hotel.
